SEND Mediation
-
SEND mediation is a statutory part of the EHCP process and is available when there are disagreements before an appeal is made to the SEND Tribunal. It provides a confidential and focused space for people to be heard, understand each other’s perspectives and explore practical options for supporting the child or young person.
I work with several mediation providers across the UK, facilitating discussions involving:
decisions not to carry out a statutory needs assessment
decisions not to issue an EHCP
the contents of an EHCP (including provision and placement)

SEND mediation often involves strong emotions, differing perspectives and detailed information. I work calmly and methodically, supporting participants to express their views clearly, listen to one another and move through the discussion at a manageable pace. My role is to facilitate a balanced and constructive conversation that focuses on what is needed for the child or young person.

I have facilitated more than 1,000 mediations, including extensive work within SEND. This has involved supporting parents, carers, young people, schools and local authorities across a broad range of statutory issues. My experience includes complex, high-emotion and multi-party cases where communication has become difficult or where detailed consideration of EHCP content is required.
Supporting parents, carers, young people and local authorities to work through disagreements and reach clear, workable outcomes within the SEND framework.
Available for panel appointments and direct instructions.
If you’d like to discuss a potential case, I’d be happy to hear from you.
